Senshi pageant round 3 – theme song

It actually took me a really long time to come up with a song to use.  I wanted something that had to do with the nature of being a sailor senshi.  I needed a song that was about love without being about romance.

The very idea of the song is the goal of all the sailor senshi. Fighting for a better future is what they do.  And this verse strikes particularly well with Zahra. She’s not after thank yous or fancy things; she lives out of her CAR, for pity’s sake.  She dropped everything to travel the country doing a thankless job, because the world needs her, and the only reward she wants for fighting monsters is to live in a world without monsters.

I need someplace simple where we could live
And something only you can give
And that’s faith and trust and peace while we're alive
And the one poor child who saved this world
And there's 10 million more who probably could
If we all just stopped and said a prayer for them

This is the verse that really made me choose this song. It fits perfectly. The “child who saved this world” is Sailor Moon and the “ten million more” are all the other senshi in the universe.  Imagine this song sung by a sailor senshi, for the sailor senshi.  It’s about having faith in each other. They’re a sisterhood of saviors.  Even though Sailor Sun fights alone, she knows she never truly IS alone. She has the strength of countless others, and she loves them all fiercely, even if she will never even know their names.

The world has LITERALLY began again more than once in Sailormoon canon.  Resurrection and redemption are huge themes.

And somehow stop this endless fight

Sailor Sun DOES want to stop her battle. She wants to send all the escapees back to the sun prison. But she does not hate them.  In her mind the greatest part of being a senshi is in loving EVERYONE. You don’t have to like them, but you can always love them.

Everyone deserves love.  Everyone deserves a second chance.  Sun may be the master of a magical prison, but her goal is not to punish, but to rehabilitate. So that one day, even the monsters will no longer be monsters, and they can start over.

That's Sailor Sun's eternal form, except that her cape would have gold flames instead of portraits of other senshi. The art is supposed to be based of the 2nd verse in particular and the theme/mood of the song as a whole.  The idea is that Sailor Sun is a solo senshi. She protects the world alone but the others are always with her in spirit.  Sailor Moon is the only canon character there. The others are :
